Health care systems encounter major challenges today: from Brexit impact on the fate of the National Health Service (NHS) to national election candidates’ plans to reform public health insurance. Another front-and-center issue is the increasing ageing population and the growing burden of major chronic diseases against constrained public resources for health. These diseases, such as cardiovascular disease, cancers, mental health problems, diabetes and chronic respiratory disease, account for 87% of deaths in the EU – about 4 million a year and 115 billion euros (0,8% of GDP annually).

Join POLITICO for a deep-dive conversation about what it will take to reverse the trends and slow the rise of chronic diseases in Europe. How can health care systems in Europe go beyond economic objectives and find long-term solutions to improve health outcomes and quality of life? How can we incentivize our health care system to focus on and prevent chronic diseases before and after they start? What are the key challenges and solutions to managing chronic diseases optimally? What is the role of governments to address this change? For those already affected, how can companies and governments support those patients and ensure the best possible quality of care and life? How can collaboration between stakeholders make a difference?
